LoveMusicLoveFood: The Rock Star Cookbook, is the brainchild of renowned food photographer Patrice De Villiers. Supported by celebrated music journalist Andrew Harrison and rock ‘n roll cook Sarah Muir it is a book that features over 60 musicians. Incorporating portraits of musicians with their favourite foods, each accompanied by a unique personalised recipe and exclusive interview, it is a project in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.

So in choosing their favourite food, KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES frontman Aled Phillips championed Sushi, why exactly? As he puts it “Short of open-mouth fishing there’s nothing like sushi, is there? Healthy, good to share and it feels nice in the mouth. When we went to Japan, our label took us out to a very traditional restaurant, which was the first time I ate jellyfish. I can absolutely recommend it. The entire experience is really heightened in Japan.”

Why do rock bands love sushi so much? Well as Aled put it, it’s simple “Because we’re self-important and we think it’s dignified and gives us a sense of culture in the moral abyss that is the rock n’ roll world”.

these are the rest of the photos that I took in March this year at ICP Studios, in Brussels, Belgium. They were taken at various times over the course of 2 and a half weeks that we spent there (06.03.11/ 23.03.11)

I’ve already posted some that I particularly liked, and also the 6 photos that were used in the album booklet. I wanted to put the rest in a photoset for whoever wants to see.

Bring the Noise festival in France is organised by the alternative rock and metal show with the same name that airs on Ouï FM. Tickets to the festival are free but the only way to get them is to win competitions run by Ouï FM and their partner sites: My Rock, Rock Your Life and All the Rage TV.

KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES are set to perform at the festival on November the 29^th with Anathema and LazyWall at Petit Bain in Paris and the band have 5 pairs of tickets to give away to their French fans! Having released their third album In Gold Blood in August, Cardiff rockers KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES have a lot of touring ahead of them. On the road between now and the end of the year, the band’s guitarist Iain Mahanty has put together a selection of songs for Q Magazine that are perfect to wake-up to:

“Seeing as I’m always on tour, music is an important way for me to start the day,” he explains. “Here’s a few tunes I might be caught listening to in October, when we’re touring the UK.”
